The Assiniboine river:  There are a few options for exploring the assiniboine river.  Our favourite paddle begins where the Trans Canada highway crosses the river (just west of Brandon) and then paddling into Brandon and docking at the Discovery Centre or at 1st Street.

If you are willing to travel a little further there are many beautiful lakes around westman, as well as Riding Mountain National Park, or any of our Provincial Parks

When you rent the kayak there is a $250 pre authorisation made on your credit card as a damage deposit. This amount is not actually charged so you will not incur any charges from your credit card company.
You are responsible for getting the kayak to and from the water safely.

To do so it’s best to use a truck or a vehicle with a roof rack.  Tie down straps are not provided so please remember to bring your own.  If you don’t own tie down straps some will be available to purchase.

Shock Wiz Questions

ShockWiz is a suspension tuning system for air-sprung mountain bikes that combines high-tech hardware with an intuitive smartphone app.

Lightweight, durable and powered by a long-lasting coin cell battery, ShockWiz automatically records suspension performance every time you ride. The ShockWiz app analyzes the data and displays straightforward adjustments that unite bike, terrain and riding style.

ShockWiz works for all mountain bike riders, regardless of their experience or bike’s intended use. With ShockWiz, you know exactly how your suspension is performing – and how to make it better.

The small, waterproof case houses a highly accurate pressure sensor and microprocessor. You connect it to your fork or shock’s Schrader valve and it samples air pressure 100 times-a-second while you ride. Finely tuned algorithms analyze the changes in pressure to detect undesirable characteristics such as pogo, pack-down or bob, and class their severity. If a characteristic is severe or persistent ShockWiz will determine the adjustment required to fix it – baseline air pressure, air spring ramp, rebound, compression – and display this in the smartphone app.

The engineering principles behind ShockWiz were derived from thousands of hours of laboratory and on-bike tests. The tests verified that suspension displacement could be interpreted from changes in air pressure. ShockWiz’s algorithms came from detailed analysis of suspension data from all types of mountain bikes and terrain, and using a range of riders – from beginners to racers in the Enduro World Series and Mountain Bike World Cup.

ShockWiz is compatible with most air-sprung forks and rear shocks from many different manufacturers.

The fork or shock must have a positive chamber with a single volume. Suspension with variable chambers such as DRCV and Equalizer are not supported.

Suspension where the positive and negative chambers are joined when a shock pump is installed, such as some Manitou forks, or filled through the negative chamber, such as White Brothers and MRP forks, are not supported.

Adjustable travel forks such as TALAS and Down Low Adjust need to be kept in the same travel position or a new calibration is required. RockShox Dual Position Air is not supported.

Due to their non-linear nature, bump detecting dampers such as Terralogic, Brain, iCTD and E:I will not work as well with ShockWiz, but you still get usable suggestions.

ShockWiz will have adequate frame and fork clearance on most hardtail and dual suspension mountain bikes.

YES! Most adjustments can be done by changing air pressure or rebound adjustments. We will provide you with a shock pump so you can make adjustments while you are out.

Some adjustments, such as adding tokens, should be done at the shop.

After we have calibrated and finished the initial set up, you get to go for a ride!

To get the best results you should go for at least a 30 min bike ride.  If possible try to go on a typical ride with as much varied terrain as you can find.

After your first ride check the app and make some changes.

For best results go for another ride and check the settings again.

When you rent the Shock Wiz there is a $100 pre authorisation made on your credit card as a damage deposit. This amount is not actually charged so you will not incur any charges from your credit card company.

The great thing about snowshoeing is you can go anywhere!  There are some beautiful spots close by though, including the Brandon Hills, Wheat City Golf Course, Riding Mountain National Park, and Spruce Woods Provincial Park to name a few.
Snowshoeing is a aerobic activity so you will be working a little bit. It’s important to remember dress properly for the conditions and to bring food and water with you.
